Photos in your System Photo Library are available in apps like iMovie, Pages, and Keynote. You can also sync them to iOS devices and view them on Apple TV.   2. Jan 05, 2020  Would I be right in thinking that Power Photos is the only app to manage multiple Photos Libraries? I have had a good search and although I have read that it is not quite as good as iPhoto Library Manager (the predessor) it seems to be the only app out there capable of allowing photo transfer between multiple Photos libraries especially where one or more may be on seperate external volumes.

I have been using iPhoto to manage my library(s) for 10 years so I have a lot of pics (500 GB) in multiple iPhoto libraries I am looking to store, organize and backup these images. Mar 18, 2020 Here's how to open one of the multiple photo libraries that you might have on your Mac or on a connected external drive: Press and hold the Option key as you open the Photos app. Select the library that you want to open, then click Choose Library. Photos uses this library until you open a different one using the same steps.

Follow these steps to designate a System Photo Library:

  1. Quit Photos.
  2. Hold down the Option key and open Photos. One of the photo libraries is already designated as YourLibraryName (System Photo Library).
  3. Choose the library you want to designate as the System Photo Library.
  4. After Photos opens the library, choose Photos > Preferences from the menu bar.
  5. Click the General tab.
  6. Click the Use as System Photo Library button.

If you open a second or different library in the Photos app, and you haven't designated it as the System Photo Library, other applications will use photos from the original System Photo Library. Hold down the Option key when you open Photos to see which library is set as the System Photo Library.
